The beauty of Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is located on the border between the U.S. and Canada and form part of the Niagara River that drains Lake Erie into Lake Ontario.
The sheer volume of water flowing over the falls is incredible to watch.

We flew from Newark to Buffalo on an early flight, arriving around 9am. The flight only takes about an hour, in which time they serve drinks & food from their menu! It hardly seemed worth the effort!
After picking up a hire car we headed directly to the Falls, well as directly as we could after taking an incorrect exit! Thankfully, it was only a short detour.
Upon arrival I decided to buy a pair of flip-flops (scuffs or thongs depending where you're from!), paying "airport prices" of around $13AUD for the pair. While we were there we grabbed a hat & some sunscreen as the day had turned out sunny & warm, although it was somewhat windy!

After suiting up (putting on the flip flops & hat) it was off to buy tickets for the Maid in the Mist, the boat that goes to the face of the waterfalls. We were incredibly lucky that we were here on a week day & out of school holiday break, as this meant there were very few people in the queues and no long wait times.
We were given blue ponchos to put on over our clothes so that the mist from the waterfalls didn't saturate them, as seen in the picture below. It was a windy day so there was a LOT of mist!!

O Canada! Although we had boarded the Maid in the Mist in the U.S. it was flying the Canadian flag!

After a fantastic trip on the Maid in the Mist we stopped for some more photos from the Observatory before crossing the Rainbow Bridge into Canada.
Our first stop was somewhere for lunch as we were starving! We found an Italian restaurant called Antica Pizzeria & Ristorante that served yummy food & refreshing drinks!
After lunch we headed to our hotel, the Marriott Fallsview. I would definitely stay here again! Make sure you book a Falls View room though because, dear reader, this is what you will see:

And if that's not enough, wait until dark when you will see this:

We had dinner at Morton's Grill at the hotel. The steaks were superb & our table beside the window overlooking these amazing falls was nothing less than surreal. A beautiful way for our holiday to come to a close!
Before we headed off the following day, we did the Journey Behind the Falls which consists of a walk through tunnels behind the Horseshoe Falls so that you can witness the force of the waterfall. You can also get close to the waterfall from the viewing platform.

On our way to Toronto airport for the flight home we decided to stop at a winery for lunch. The first place recommended to us by the hotel waitstaff was Angel's Gate Winery. It was beautiful & the staff were friendly & welcoming. Unfortunately we were too early in the season for their wood-fired pizza lunch, but the proprietor recommended another winery close by, The Good Earth. It didn't disappoint! The atmosphere, food & refreshments were excellent! It was a great way to end a beautiful day!
We were sad to get to the airport knowing that our holiday was over! But we have so many amazing memories of a fantastic trip! Hopefully you have enjoyed the journey too!
